Bethany Arts Community (BAC) invites artists to propose project ideas for the sculpture park we are developing on the BAC property

About BAC

Our mission is to create a space and environment where the many forms of art can be learned, produced and flourish. Artists of all ages and levels of experience are welcome to explore and create art that the community can experience and be engaged in while enhancing their perception and perspective of the world. BAC aims to inspire sharing, connection and collaboration in a culture designed for the benefit of the local community and beyond.

Bethany Arts Community is dedicated to providing a supportive, creative and stimulating work environment for staff, interns and volunteers. We encourage all to reach their full potential offering unique opportunities to meaningfully contribute to Bethany’s overall organization. The Sculpture Park

The first location for a new installation is visible from the road and has a prominent position as we grow the sculpture park. We are looking for a large sculpture that can be seen at a distance. No taller than 15 feet. The work may be site specific, or the artist may submit an already existing piece. Proposals may be shown as photographs, hand drawn sketches, digital renderings, or models/maquettes. The sculpture  committee suggests that artists visit the site ahead of time, to understand the site’s constraints, so their proposals may take these into consideration.

We are looking for a 2-3 year sculpture loan. We want to keep the park  dynamic and showcase multiple artists over the coming years.

Bethany Arts Community offers residencies to emerging and established artists for the development of both new works and works in progress.

For the Poetry Residency we encourage applications from individual poets as well as poet/artist pairs. Poet/Artist pairs must consist of one poet and another artist in any medium. Poet/Artist pairs must apply jointly and include a proposal for a collaborative project while in residency and CVs for both members of the team. In light of current travel restrictions, applications are open only to individuals who reside in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Bethany Arts Community designs its residencies to allow artists an opportunity to enjoy an environment where artists from different disciplines can work near each other, creating opportunities for cross-pollination. Residents will find both solitude and community with a small cohort of other poets and artists sharing the residency.

The Poetry Residency is for 7 days. While we cannot accommodate family members, the program is designed with the intention to make it more accessible to those whose family or work commitments make longer residencies difficult to attend.

The Poetry Residency includes room, board and $150 stipend.
